The Life of Henry Aaron

 

On February 5, 1934, Henry "Hank" Aaron was born in Mobile Alabama.

In 1942, Henry and his family move to Toulminville, Alabama.

In 1948, Henry attended an appearance to the public by Jackie Robinson.

Henry joins the Mobile Black Bears baseball team in 1950.

Henry goes to a Brooklyn Dodgers tryout camp in 1951.

In 1952, Henry joins the Indianapolis Clowns. He signed to the boston Braves by scout Dewey Griggs on June 14. He was then assigned by the Braves to Eau Claire Be Sally League. He won the Rookie of the Year Award for the Northern League. He was on the Clowns team when they won the World Series. In addition to playing baseball, he also was a really good football lineman and made himself a spot on the all- city squad. He graduated from Central High School.

On October 6, 1953, he married Barbara Lucas.

In 1954, his first daughter was born. They named her Gaile. He hit his first Major League base hit on April 15.

He first appeared in the 1955 All-Star Game.

In 1956, he won the first batting title for the National League.

In 1957, his first son Hankie is born. He hit the 100th home run of his career on August 15. He hit his first home run ever in the World Series. He attended Henry Aaron Day dedicated to him in Mobile. His two sons were born Gary and Larry.

In 1958 he wins his first Golden Glove Award. He played in his second World Series.

In 1959 he wins his second batting title. he is in his first "Home Run Derby."

He hit his 200th home run of his career on July 3, 1960.

Hank has his second girl, fourth child, Dorinda in 1962.

Hit his 300th home run on April 19,1963.

He hit the last home run by a Milwaukee Braves player on September 20,1965.

In 1966 he received his first White House invitation.

Wins his fourth Home Run crown in 1967.

Ties and beats Babe Ruths Home run record in 1974.

Hits his last homerun of his career which was his 755 home run on July 20.

Enters into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1982.

In 1990 he becomes senior Vice- President for the Braves.
