 American Heroes

Henry "Hank" Aaron

Henry "Hank" Aaron was born on February 5, 1934. He broke the home run record set by Babe Ruth on April 8, 1974. Because of what he endured to break that record, I consider him an American Hero.

Hank Aaron is important in history because he proved that anyone can do what they believe they can do. He never let anything bring him down or slow him down either. For example, before he broke Babe Ruth's record, he got a lot of death threats. During that time, he never stopped working hard to achieve his goal.

Like Martin Luther King, Jr., Hank Aaron helped integrate America by taking chances and doing things not many other Black Americans would do. He fought for the same causes as Martin Luther King, Jr. except his battle was on a baseball field. He is an example of a true American hero.
