Survey Response Area
for November 11-20, 2005

Your responses to any (or all) of the questions or contributions to the discussion may be transmitted by e-mail to hs_grad@mccsc.edu or by using the form below. For your convenience, an opportunity to respond to the specific issues is available by selecting Online Response/Survey and completing the survey.

Students, parents, teachers, and community members in the school community responded to four questions about high school, and the Graduation Workgroup in two sub-committees independently examined the data generated from these responses. Each sub-committee distilled themes from the data and then as one group synthesized their respective versions into a draft that serves as the occasion for this survey. Following are 17 questions, two for each theme and one question that asks you to pick your three most important themes. The Graduation Workgroup will use your answers to review their work in establishing the themes.

After review, these themes will serve as guiding principles for subsequent discussions about high school and for any recommendations the Workgroup makes to the Superintendent. Your input at this stage is very important to the Graduation Workgroup. Your answers will be anonymous.

If you have questions or would like to speak with anyone on the Graduation Workgroup, their names and the groups they represent are below:

Guiding Principles D R A F T

The eight themes below come from data collected in response to the following questions:

  1. What is working for our students in the way high school functions?

  2. What is not working for our students in the way high school functions?

  3. What should a successful MCCSC graduate look like?

  4. What is your vision of what high school should be?

The principles the Graduation Workgroup proposes to guide deliberations and recommendations in response to the questions above are:
  • Flexibility with schedule, location, instructional delivery, length of day, and school year

  • Engagement with students, parents, educators and community

  • Smaller school and classes - intimate environment

  • Personalization

  • Relationship development with each other, adults, and educators

  • Good school environment - positive, safe

  • Relevant and broad curriculum

  • Educating for life in a democratic society

Do the ideas represented in these themes reflect your concerns, values, and/or aspirations for MCCSC high school?

Your response to this question or contributions to the discussion may be transmitted by e-mail to hs_grad@mccsc.edu or by using the form below.

For your convenience, an opportunity to respond to the specific 17 issues is available by selecting Online Response/Survey and completing the survey.
