Bloomington High School South Program

Program Description:

At Bloomington High School South, classes meet daily and the ENL resource class has been scheduled to coincide with the instructional class.  This arrangement permits the instructors to designate one section as the beginner/low intermediate level, and the other as the high intermediate/advanced level.

ENL: English as a New Language provides Limited English Proficient students with instruction in English to improve their proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing English and develop proficiency with language foundations. This is a credit course specifically designed for English Language Learners. This course follows the Indiana English Language Proficiency Standards.

ENL Resource: This course is designed as an auxiliary program to help Limited English Proficient students meet requirements in academic classes for which the lack of English Proficiency is an obstacle. The objective is to assist the student with reading and written work for his or her regular curriculum. Students will have an opportunity for supervised homework help, completion of extended-time testing and supplemental/enrichment of English Language work.
