Soar... into college

What is the Bloomington Early College program at MCCSC?

Bloomington Early College puts post-secondary education within reach of thousands of students every year. It is a specific kind of high school program designed to move students into college-level courses by their junior year in high school. The focus is a comprehensive series of courses that fit the CORE 40 requirements for high school graduation and related programs at Ivy Tech and Indiana University. The coursework includes the necessary math, technology, and science classes to earn “dual-credit” toward both a high school diploma and a college degree. Twenty-first Century Scholars do not pay college tuition.

Serving as a bridge between high school and college, Bloomington Early College gives Monroe County students the confidence, personal attention, and extra help they need to succeed in college. Students graduate with the study, time management, and academic skills to help them make a seamless transition from high school to college.

Are there any credits involved?

Through the dual-credit courses taken at Bloomington North, Bloomington South, Ivy Tech, and Indiana University, students have the opportunity to earn up to 18 hours of college credit prior to graduating from high school!

Is Bloomington Early College just for high achievers?

No! The Early College program is for students at many different levels, who will have additional help available to them through study tables and mentors. We strongly believe that all students, regardless of past performance, can achieve in a small school environment and advance quickly to college-level coursework.

How do I enroll?

Students must complete an application packet by January 30 and send it to BHSN or BHSS. Applications may be acquired from middle school counselors. There will be information forums to further update the community about Blomington Early College. Please attend if you have more questions or plan on being a part of this program.
