This art work has been created by the Kids of Childs Elementary.  They have drawn pictures of Martin Luther King Junior, and Rosa Parks. They have tried their best to make their pictures resemble these people as much as they can.

Martin Luther King Junior

A man who changed our country

Not white but African American

Strong was he

We will remember

On a special day we honor him

To remind us that he was right

To go out and stand up for equality

This special day makes me think

What would have happened without him?

A man ready to stand up for what he believed

Would it still be the same?

African Americans being discriminated

For their race

Different schools to separate them

Different bathrooms for the colored

Not allowed in the same places

It was a disgrace

Martin Luther king junior changed it all

A man determined to make a difference

A struggle for freedom

Martin Luther King Junior

Strong was he

We will remember

 Rosa Parks

 Born 1913 in Tuskegee, Alabama,

 A girl named Rosa McCauley

No on knew yet what this girl had in store

 In December of 1955

 She made a move

That would go down in history

She took a seat in the white section

Refused to give it up to a white man

This was against the law

She didn’t give up then

                                                                                       Soon after her arrest

The bus boycott began

7 days of walking came and went

On  and on they  walked

A year later the law was changed

Now up in the front sat Rosa

With Dr. Martin Luther King Junior by her side

They made their point

Winning their seats at last

Sadly Rosa passed away in 2005

She made a mark in history                                              She was brave and she was bold

Never giving up the dream of equality
