Jackson Creek Rules and Procedures
In response to those students that may need or wish to provide academic assistance, your son / daughter is requesting permission to participate in a program called Peer Tutoring. To fully participate in this program the student will be required to volunteer to tutor or to be tutored in specific subject areas for a designated period of time. The match between those students tutored and those tutoring may be adjusted during the school year to ensure maximum use of the tutor's expertise. Part of this time will involve the students arranging appropriate opportunities for telephonic tutoring after school hours. The students involved will determine the length and frequency of the tutoring sessions. I will, if necessary, arrange for the students to meet prior to the beginning of school to provide more in-depth assistance to their assigned student.
Due to this program involving students contacting each other after normal school hours we felt it best to obtain the permission of the parents of both the tutor's and those to be tutored. Participation is voluntary and your agreement to participate may be withdrawn at any time. If you agree to your daughter / son's participation please complete the linked permission form and have it returned to the Student Reception Area at Jackson Creek Middle School.

This is another program new to Jackson Creek this year. The counselors are proposing to have outstanding students from each block that will serve as school representatives to school visitors at open house, provide school tours to incoming students, and possibly assist those less fortunate special needs students in need of assistance by escorting them to lunch and other daytime school activities.
Pick up your request and parent permission form at the Student Reception Center.

Coming soon to Jackson Creek will be the opportunity for all students to participate in making your school's atmosphere more peaceful. We are proposing to train students to mediate problems that commonly arise from the difference of opinions. Requirements are the ability to remain calm in potentially stressful situations and a desire to make a difference in your school.
Listen for future announcements.
Builders Club
topThe Jackson Creek Builders Club is sponsored by the Bloomington Kiwanis Club. It is a national service-oriented organization for 7th and 8th grade students. The club provides its members with the opportunity to be involved in service projects for our school and for the community. An example of a project is organizing a student Anti-Hate Essay Contest for students to express their ideas of how we as a school can develop more tolerance toward the issue of diversity. The students will also be involved in a fundraising project, which in the past has benefited Riley Hospital. In the spring, club member will work on a building-grounds beautification project and take a field trip as a service learning field trip. If you have any questions or a referral for the program, please contact David Terwilliger at 330-2451. For more detailed information visit the Kiwanis International Buliders Club web site or Jackson Creek's Builders Club web site.
