Social Sciences Program
Fifth and Sixth Grade

     The Social Sciences program will be based upon the standards as stated in the Indiana Department of Education’s guidelines for Indiana Students.

    There will be approximately four to five week units in each subjects.  There will be one social studies unit and one science unit during each grading period. 

Fifth Grade Social Studies Units are:
        US History Overview/ Early Explorers  (1000-1607)          
        Colonization (1607-1763)
        American Revolution (1763-1783)
        Founding of our National Government (1783-1800)

Fifth Grade Science Units are:
        Models and Designs
        Levers and Pulleys
        Water
        Living Environment

A variety of projects, assignments, labs, texts and quizzes will be used to assess students' learning.

Sixth Grade Social Studies Units are:
        Early Civilizations and Cultures
        Early Civilizations in Africa and Asia
        Early Civilizations in the Americas
        Mediterranean Empires

Sixth Grade Science Units are:
                             Earth Science
        Physical Science
        Life Science
