How do I register my child
for the Kindergarten-Plus Program?
Register your child at the elementary school in your attendance area.
Complete the “Kindergarten Program Selection Form”. All registered students will be included in a lottery May 15. Additional lotteries will be held on June 2 and August 4 if enrollment requests warrant.

Can my kindergartener attend a school outside of their district if they have not been selected in their home school’s lottery for the Kindergarten-Plus Program?
Yes, if parents choose to attend a Kindergarten-Plus program outside their home school, they must provide their own transportation. If there is a very small enrollment in a particular building, there may be only a half-day program offered, and parents will be given the opportunity to attend a full-day program at another MCCSC school. Every effort will be made to keep children in their home attendance area for the state mandated half-day program.

Are the fees that I pay for Kindergarten-Plus tax deductible? Can I use my Flex-Spend Dollars for this program?
The MCCSC will provide a receipt for all payments to the Kindergarten-Plus Program. Each family should check with their Flex-Spend Account holder to see if Kindergarten-Plus qualifies as a use of these pre-tax dollars.

What if my request is for a half-day program and my school only offers the full-day program?
In cases where there is insufficient enrollment in a half-day kindergarten program, students may be assigned to a school not in their attendance area. Every effort will be made to place the child in a centrally located school that will offer the half-day program.

Will the before and after School Age Care Program still operate?
Yes, in most schools. The before and after School Age Program will operate during their regular hours in schools where there is adequate need. Please call 812-330-7702 for information regarding fees and availability.
