About Mrs. Polley

Mrs. Polley is a local girl through and through. Her ancestors were among those who first settled Monroe County in the early 1830s. A valedictorian of Unionville High School, she received a merit scholarship to Indiana University and graduated with a B.S. in Education with High Distinction then completed an M.S. in Secondary Education three years later. She was inducted into the Pi Lambda Theta and Alpha Lambda Delta honoraria.

Mrs. Polley's teaching career began in Sullivan County at North Central High School. She returned to Monroe County in 1984 where she taught one year at Bloomington High School North before transferring to Batchelor Middle School where she has since been a teacher of social studies and/or English and writing.

Home for Mrs. Polley is a 200 acre farm northeast of Bloomington in the Unionville community where she lives with husband David and son Matthew. The farm is located on the Ten O'clock line marking the division of land in Indiana first cleared for sale after the American Revolution. The property has been passed down through David's ancestors since the mid 1800s.

The Polleys attend the Bridge Church of Christ and are active in local and county 4-H clubs. They spend much of their time at home caring for their animals which include mules, cows, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, guineas, dogs, cats, parakeets, and tropical fish. Mrs. Polley raises fresh vegetables each summer for canning and freezing. She enjoys traveling, camping, and reading as well.

Mrs. Polley thinks Monroe County is about the best place in the world. She is committed to helping Monroe County youth discover and reach their educational potentials.
