The Honey Creek School is a restored one-room schoolhouse located in the far northeastern portion of Monroe County. Children attending Honey Creek School experience the cultural heritage of those who lived and worked in rural Monroe County during the late 1800's and early 1900's. A typical day at Honey Creek includes time for reading, ciphering, recess, discussing our heritage and a nature activity. Lunch is an outside brown-bag meal that the student brings, and includes organized 1800's games.

Enrollment is limited to 30 pupils per session. Children who have completed grades 1-6 may enroll. Each session is scheduled Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. daily. Bus transportation will be provided daily from designated pick-up stations to the Honey Creek School located on Low Gap Road, a distance of about 16 miles. Punctuality is vital when bringing children to the pick-up site. The bus must leave promptly at the scheduled time. It is also important that each child is met at the specified pick-up station in the afternoon. There are no supervision services before the children get on the bus in the morning or after they get off the bus in the afternoon.

A fee of $140.00 per 5-day week must be sent with the registration form. Please make checks payable to MCCSC Honey Creek. Registration fees are non-refundable unless a week is cancelled.

Registration forms are available at all MCCSC elementary schools and at the MCCSC Administration Center at 315 E. North Drive. Administration Center office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Parents will be notified as soon as possible concerning enrollment applications. Applications are accepted until all sessions are filled. Selection of children will be based upon the date of application and number of enrollments for each grade level. Attendance date preferences will be considered on an availability basis.
