Jessica Willis, Principal
Welcome to The Academy of Science and Entrepreneurship (The Academy). It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as Principal of The Academy since the 2015-16. I have served the Monroe County Community School Corporation since 1991 as a Business teacher at Bloomington North and Assistant Principal at Jackson Creek Middle School and now The Academy. I am a long time resident of Bloomington and a proud student of Marlin Elementary, University Middle School, and Bloomington North. My husband Hal and children Hannah (Nursing major at Ivy Tech) and AJ (Senior at BHSN) have been a tremendous support in my life and I thank them for all their patience over the years.
The faculty and staff of The Academy are committed to providing all students with a challenging and supportive learning environment that encourages them to reach their fullest potential academically, personally, and socially. It is a goal of The Academy to create an active and engaged learning community. We feel that parents are an integral part of this process and welcome and encourage their support and participation at The Academy.
Since The Academy is a district optional school, students and their parents/guardians have choice whether or not to apply. Optional schools are public schools that offer an option to the traditional schools in a district. In the case of The Academy, the option is to attend a school that is part of a national network of New Technology schools that follow a unique project-based approach to learning. We believe it is a privilege to attend The Academy. It is also a privilege for the faculty and staff of The Academy to have the opportunity to teach your children.
