Prior to the students’ arrival on Wednesday mornings, teachers meet in their collaborative teams to develop curriculum and building assessments, review individual student results, and develop appropriate interventions and enrichments. In the 2012-2013 school year, all elementary sites will offer free Wednesday morning School Age Care from 8:20-9:35 am. To participate in the Wednesday Extension only, families will need to register using a form available on the School Age Care website or at the elementary school offices.
During a school day, students receive high-quality targeted instruction in those subjects which meet the standards for each grade level. They include academic subjects as well as specials or elective courses. Each school has a tiered program of support which monitors student progress with different levels of intervention intensity. The process is guided by student outcome data and uses all resources within a school for prevention and early intervention of academic and behavior problems. Students who have learned the essential skills or standards may be given enrichment opportunities. It is expected that all students will reach their learning goals.
The MCCSC school day is 7 hours and 15 minutes on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday for all students. On Wednesdays, the elementary school day is 6 hours and 15 minutes (5 hours and 25 minutes instructional time) and the secondary school day is 6 hours and 30 minutes (6 hours instructional time).
