Web-based Magazine

OBJECTIVE

  • Students will gain a stronger understanding of the writing process by following their work through the publication stage.
  • Students will also practice cooperative learning and peer-editing skills.
  • All students will need to use higher level thinking skills.

RESOURCES

  • Each student will have time in the lab on a computer once a week (if they earned a ticket).
  • Student examples of articles and examples from ProQuest

TIME ALLOCATED

  • Trimester: Two weeks to prepare with the possibility to produce (2) two papers—one every five weeks.
  • Daily: Students will be given daily writing/ journal time (approximately ten minutes).

WHAT WILL THE TEACHERS DO?

  • Choose topics & Demonstrate models
  • Review writing process
  • Introduce rubrics
  • Choose editors
  • Facilitate process

WHAT WILL THE STUDENTS DO?

  • PRODUCE WEB-BASED MAGAZINE
