Project name: Indiana's Culture and Environment
Grade Levels: K, 1, 2, 4, 6
Curricular Areas: Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies,
Technology
Goal: Connect Indiana Academic Standards
to grade-level themes across
the curriculum.
Objectives: 1. Provides students with skills stated in
the Indiana Standards.
2. Increase student reading and math
achievement.
3. Provide students with opportunities to apply
what they learn in the
area of technology.
4. Increase student personal computer
skills.
5. Increase student cooperative learning
skills.
6. Produce student products which can be
stored and shared.
21st Century Skills:
1. Basic, scientific and technological literacy
2. Visual and information literacy
3. Cultural literacy and global awareness
4. Adaptability/managing complexity
5. Curiosity, creativity, and risk taking
6. Higher order thinking and sound reasoning
7. Teaming, collaboration, and interpersonal skills

Project instruction: Each participating teacher will enhance
their grade-level curriculum by planning,
organizing, facilitating, instructing, and
assessing through the use of a variety of
technological applications.
Introduction: Students will explore Indiana's Culture and
Environment, integrate it with grade-level
curriculum, and apply it to technology.
Task: Each grade level will develop a project
based on a unit of study focusing on Indiana
Culture and Environment. This project will
be shared and stored in the student's locker
on the local server as an electronic portfolio.
Activities: Each grade level will build and expand upon
the pre-existing curriculum by incorporating field
trips, guest speakers, technology, and
presentations.
Process: Each grade level will focus on the
following themes:
· Kindergarten-living things
· First Grade-families and earth science
· Second Grade-pioneer life
· Fourth Grade-Indiana History
· Sixth Grade-Indiana Authors
Resources: · Computers
· Inspiration
· Kidspiration
· Internet
· Power Point
· Word
· Excel
· Web page design
· Textbooks
· Digital Camera
· Field Trips
· Guest speakers
· Scanner
· Maps and Globes
· Smart Board
· Science Lab
Evaluation: Each teacher will create a rubric
for assessment and assignment of grades.
Conclusion: The team of teachers will model, mentor,
and collaborate with other members of the
faculty to encourage further participation
and implementation of Good Teaching
with Technology project.
