  Work-Study Program

Mission Statement: Students will learn a non- threatening caring environment committed to developing academic, like and leadership skills, empowering them to become responsible adults with self-fulfilling lives and economic independence .

How do Employees benefit:

•  Job coaching available without any expense from the company

•  Job training provided by the job coach when needed

•  Provides motivated and competent employees

•  Works study has an excellent reputation in the community

•  Provides opportunities for students to be more independent and productive.

•  Identifying needs of your business that would cost less at minimum wage.

 

How do students benefit:

•  Increasing self-esteem

•  Learning new skills

•  Utilizing public transpiration

•  Preparation for adults life

•  Accessing the community

•  Practicing social skills

•  Discovering likes and dislikes

•  Learning strengths and weakness

•  Earning a paycheck

•  Building employment skills

 

Three levels of work-study:

1. In-School Jobs:

Students learning job skills in the school setting

2. Work Experience

Students have jobs in the community and learn work skills without pay

3. Paid Employments:

Students have jobs in the community and receive a paycheck

 

Follow up and transition:

•  Follow up services are provided indefinitely

•  Students performances is evaluated

•  Maintaining high expectations of employees is the standard

•  Support is provided when I student graduates a adult services

 

How can work study save you money:

•  Reduced turn over which results in reduced training costs

•  Freeing up a highly skilled employee from performing low skills tasks

•  Low absenteeism

•  Safety records equal to or better than non-disabled workers

•  No effects on insurance or workers compensation rates

•  Support from a trained job coach at no cost

•  Federal and state financial incentives may be available
