Solar Racing Team

The Bloomington High School South Solar Racing Team requests your sponsorship. Our team is in its thirteenth racing season, and has established a reputation as one of the top competitors in the country and the world. Since 1997, we have won twenty-two national titles at the Solar BikeRayce USA and twelve world titles at the World Solar Bicycle Race in Japan.

We are asking businesses and individuals to support our solar racing team because it provides great opportunities to learn and apply many advanced concepts. Designing, building, and racing the solar vehicles requires knowledge in physics, chemistry, electronics, mechanics, racing and bicycle riding technique, organization, leadership, and business management. We have received many compliments on our teamwork and work ethic from coaches of other teams and national and world race directors. Through your support, we can continue to live up to high standards and strengthen their respect and our reputation.

How can you help?
No matter how we improve our solar vehicles, our goals will remain unattainable without sufficient funds. Sponsorships and donations will help us represent Bloomington in the national and international arenas. We anticipate incurring cost of approximately $30,000 this school year.

Why should you help?

· The Bloomington High School South Solar Racing Team nationally and internationally represents the best of our community. We have received many compliments on our teamwork and work ethic from coaches of other teams and national and world race directors. This year we have members from both North and South High Schools.

· Team members are role models for other students and the community. The team members provide positive leadership and enthusiasm for excellence in academic and athletic achievement.

· Most importantly, your contribution is an opportunity to support the youth of our community. These young men and women work hard year-round. A great deal of time and effort has gone into the planning, development, and building of the solar vehicles; the physical training of the riders and the raising of funds to support these efforts.
