Scoring

Grades each marking period will be determined by the total points you earn. The following represent some of the activities through which you can earn points:

• tests and quizzes
• papers, essays, log entries, and other writing activities
• projects and presentations
• participation in class discussions and activities

At the end of each six-week grading period, your grade will be calculated by dividing the number of points you earn by the number possible.

Your semester grade will be figured using the three six weeks grades and the final examination. If your grade in the latter half of the semester is better than in the first half, the semester grade will reflect the improvement. The reverse is also true.

Grading Scale

• 98-100 = A+
• 93-97 = A
• 90-92 = A-
• 88-89 = B+
• 83-87 = B
• 80-82 = B-
• 78-79 = C+
• 73-77 = C
• 70-72 = C-
• 68-69 = D+
• 63-67 = D
• 60-62 = D-
• 0-59 = F
  

Making up work after an absence

If you have an excused absence, you will be allowed to make up any work you missed. In some cases, however, work done in class in a group or with a partner may not be made up. In that case, you will be given an alternate assignment. Please review your planner to learn how to arrange to make up missed work. Failure to arrange for make up during the first class day you are back, will result in a zero for the work missed. Work not turned in by the agreed on deadline will also turn into a zero in the grade book.

Late Assignments

• Late assignments are accepted under the following conditions:
• All assignments are due at the end of the class period they are assigned.
• If you have extraordinary circumstances you must get the absence cleared with the teacher.
• All late assignments will be docked 10% after the first day.
• All assignments turned more than 1 day and less than a week from the due date will be docked 50%
• No assignments will be accepted more than a week late. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
