Grades will be based on:

There are three terms (6 weeks) for each semester. Grades will be calculated as accumulative
totals, a term grade average will be reported in place of 6 week grades.
(Term 1 = 6 week average, Term 2 = 12 week average & Term 3 = 18 week
average, Semester grade = 80% of Term 3 + 20% of Final Exam)

Classroom
Expectations:
- All
students are expected to be in their seats and prepared for class when the
bell rings. A student may be tardy if they are not in their seat when the bell
rings.
- All
students are expected to arrive in
class prepared and should have all of their materials including
textbook, paper, pencil/pen, folder, and colored pencils with them. Arriving to class without your textbook
3 times can earn you a 30-minute detention.
- Food, drinks (other
than water), CD players, MP3 players and cell phones are not allowed
in the classroom.
- Students
must have a teacher pass to leave the classroom.
- Students
must sign out before leaving the classroom.
- Students
are required to exhibit courtesy
and respect others
- Students
are expected to participate in class
- Students
will at times be expected to work
in groups with other students.
- Late assignments will
only be accepted for reduced credit
- No late work will be
accepted after the test
- No
late or absent work will be accepted without a Homework Record Slip indicating why the work is not submitted
on time.
- Each
student is responsible for his/her own reading and homework.
- Each
student is responsible for his/her own learning. If
you need help, get it!
Homework:
·
Earth Science is an academic
class.
- Homework
is assigned frequently and is due at the beginning of class.
- It
is the student’s responsibility to find out what assignments were missed
during an absence. Students will be
permitted one day per excused absence day to complete make-up exams and
assignments.
- Late
assignments will be deducted 25% of the grade and will not be accepted
after testing. Missing assignments
will have zero points.
- No
late or absent work will be graded or accepted without a Homework Record Slip indicating
why the work is not submitted on time.
Homework
Packets:
- Will
be assigned by unit or chapter
- Will
include bellwork, vocabulary & review sheets
- Will
be graded as participation points & must be self corrected in class
- Will
be due on test day
- Will
be kept in individual files in the classroom until final exam
Daily
Required Materials:

Procedures:
- Be

pencils and get your books and materials ready for class

Absences:
- Class
activities and homework are posted weekly online.
- It is the student’s
responsibility to check for missed work.
- Absent
work will be available by block in
the maroon & gold cubby
- If
you have an excused absence you have the same number of days absent plus
one to turn in your assignments.
- No
absent work will be graded or accepted without a Homework Record Slip indicating why the work is not submitted
on time.
- All missed tests will
be taken upon return from the absence.
Academic
Honesty:
- Each
student is expected to do his/her own work.
- In
order to eliminate any confusion about what academic dishonest includes,
the following definitions will apply in earth science class:

Knowingly providing your work/answers to another student for
them to copy as their own.
·
Knowingly copying another student’s work/answers and
submitting them as your own.
·
Using illicit or banned materials during a test or quiz
situation.
·
Knowingly submitting work completed by another
student/person as your own (plagiarism).
